Abstract

The article analyzes the diminishing political presence of the U.S. in Asia particularly in China. The deteriorating influence of U.S. on Asia is caused by factors such as its failed formation of the trans-Pacific free-trade area known as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the efforts to place capital account and financial liberalization on the Asia Pacific economies. The author concludes that Asia must withdraw from the U.S. system and its continued pursuit of hegemony worldwide.
