Abstract
- The article reports that thermoelectric power plants are the third largest consumer of water in the United States. These plants produce 53 percent of the power. Water was taken for granted in the development of the national energy program because it is cheap, plentiful and easily extracted. The evolution of technologies for power production and new energy sources decreased the demand for water.
