Abstract

The article examines the prevalence and implications of hypertension in the Afro-Caribbeans in Curaçcao, Netherlands Antilles. The prevalence of hypertension increases with age and seems to parallel the number of known risk factors, especially obesity. It cites that the phenomenon of a decline in nocturnal blood pressure associated with secondary organ damage suggests that people must attempt to control all the Black patients presenting left ventricular hypertrophy on electrocardiogram.
