Abstract

The article discusses a study on the prevalence of alterations of glucoregulation in children who are obese. The study involved 25 obese children who underwent oral glucose tolerance test. Serum glucose and insulin values were taken while homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated. According to the study, 1.2 percent of the children has impaired glucose fasting (IFG). The study also revealed that 2.4 percent of the obese children has type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2).
