Abstract
- The article presents an examination into the spiked helmets of the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy, adopted by the service in 1882 and their development up until the first World War. Several elements of the helmet are described including the body, plume assembly and chin strap. Multiple photographs are included featuring the item. Historical commentary is given citing the early and late use of the uniform style.
