Abstract

The article reports on the agreement between 11 mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states in the U.S. to develop a regional low-carbon fuel standard to reduce green-house gas emissions. The agreement was signed on December 31, 2008 and announced on January 5, 2009. It notes that the reason behind the agreement is the interconnection of the fuel distribution system of the states. Among the participating states include New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.
