Abstract

The article reports on move of Hamilton, New Zealand-based genetics company AmBreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation with Heilongjiang Province in China to export about 150 live bulls from 2009 to 2013. The move is part of the strategic milk project plan of Heilongjiang. A cooperation agreement with international agricultural product company Tru-Test has also been signed to import mechanical milk meters into the province. Genetic technology is being used by Ambreed to determine sires carrying a deadly calf-maiming gene.
