Abstract
- The article offers updates on several industrial safety errors in the U.S. Following a crane collapse that killed seven workers, Rapetti Rigging of Massapequa, New York was fined for failing to insist that rigging slings on a crane be inspected for damage and removed from service if found to be defective. Smithfield Packing at Tar Heel, North Carolina was fined because a contract worker suffered the amputation of his left arm after it was dragged into an unguarded conveyor belt.
