Abstract
- An essay is presented on the author's experience of receiving negative feedback from graduate students about her graduate seminar entitled "Teaching of Literature" at the University of Massachusetts in Boston and her response to it. She notes that her decision to examine the strengths and limitations of her pedagogy was prompted by the reaction of students. She claims that her decision to alter her teaching method made her a stronger advocate of confronting issues of race in a school environment.
