Abstract

The article focuses on Adriane Stone, a high-jump athlete from Hawaii. It states that Stone used to be a depressed alcoholic, 80 pounds overweight and thoughts of the Olympic Trials were not on her mind. It relates that it was Stone's father who had introduced her to the sport years and reveals her vices which made her isolated from other athletes. It recalls how Stone almost lost her hope to the Olympics and how she had taken comfort from the Bible and her family.
