Abstract
- Information on the Advanced Program to Program Communications (APPC) protocol from the book "Network Protocols Handbook," Fourth Edition, is presented. The APPC, originally developed by International Business Machines (IBM) as a remote transaction processing tool between Logic Units (LUs), is a programming interface standard that allows interconnected systems to communicate and share the processing of programs. In addition, user-written programs are allowed by the APPC software to perform transactions in a Client-Server network.
