Abstract
- The article presents the views of several members of different parent-teacher associations (PTA) across the U.S. on how being involved in PTA made them feel like a leader. Jennifer Dion of Calvert Street Elementary PTA described how building community through advocacy made their school and neighborhood community stronger. Anastasia Dawdy of David Lawrence Jr. K-8 Center PTA recalled how she helped her daughter's classmate who was getting a failing grade. Dinah Wilson of PTA National Unit cited how she was able to start a snack bank for the school where her children go.
