Abstract

The article discusses the sound changes in connected speech. Selected forms of spoken language are the focus of teachers from some geographic regions or those representing certain racial or ethnic groups. They also assume that their own usage is more appropriate. In addition, there is a tendency to denigrate dialects among teachers. Assimilation and changes in articulatory placement of sounds which precede or follow other sounds are also common in connected speech. The reversal of sounds, or metathesis, is another type of sound change that teachers use.
