Abstract
- The article discusses the establishment of dressmaking in Scotland at the end of seventeenth century. It highlights the conflict between men and women tailors and mantuamakers. An argument regarding paying to the Tailor's Incorporation and the evidence of the conflict is presented. The author concludes that women's involvement in clothing construction plays a significant role in women's history.
