Abstract
- The article presents a commentary on the book "Democracy and Music Education: Liberalism, Ethics, and the Politics of Practice," by Paul Woodford. It examines the basic themes presented in the work of Woodford, indicating his purpose for the music education. It indicates the emphasis of Woodford on the undeniable need for music teachers, philosophers, as well as students to model empathy, civility, and compassion. The author also explores the assertion of Woodford regarding the difficulty of the coupling of education with democracy.
