Abstract

The article reports that the 115,00-square-foot commons center at Vanderbilt University in Nashville is the first higher education building in Tennessee to achieve LEED Gold certification. Several sustainable features incorporated into the building's design include eco-friendly fireplaces and a deep curtain wall. The building's water conservation system is expected to save 90,000 gallons of water annually.
