Abstract

The article provides information on flexibility as an important component of physical fitness. It is the ability to move a joint through its full range of motion (ROM) with ease. It provides several factors that affect flexibility including the body structures of the joint, disease, and characteristics of the soft tissues. It says that arthritis decreases flexibility, thus, it is important to perform stretching exercises and static stretching for the maintenance and improvement of ROM.
