7: Global Volcanic Simulation: Physical Modeling, Numerics, and Computer Implementation: 7.4. COMPUTER IMPLEMENTATION.

Section 4 of the chapter 7 of the book "Vesuvius: Education, Security and Prosperity" is presented. It addresses the computer implementation issues for the purpose of producing accurate and effective simulations of plinian and collapsing volcanic columns. It describes an iterative linear system solution methodology used for the parallel unstructured finite volume simulation of the strongly coupled fluid flow, heat transfer and mass transfer that occurs in volcanic eruption plumes.
