Abstract
- The article examines the opera-based tapestries called fragments d'opéra, which are created after the painter François Boucher and Jean-Baptiste Oudry, the director of Beauvais, proposed to do a series of them. The tapestries include circa 1752 "Renaud Endormi," in which the paladin is depicted in his sleep in the enchanted garden of the sorceress Armida. The other tapestries in the series include the "Vénus et les Amours" which was recorded woven in 1752, the "Sommeil d'Issé" and "Vertumne et Pomone."
