Abstract

Part 2 Chapter 5 of the book "Benguela: Predicting a Large Marine Ecosystem" is presented. This chapter examines the low oxygen water (LOW) variability in the Benguela marine ecosystem. It focuses on the key processes and forcing scales that are relevant to LOW forecasting. It also explains that LOW variability in the Benguela is governed by varying scales of remote and local forcing linked to both Equatorial and Cape Basin systems.
