Abstract
- Chapter 8 of the book "Ecosystem Engineers: Plants to Protists," edited by Kim Cuddington, James E. Byers, William G. Wilson and Alan Hastings is presented. It explores several approaches and challenges on identifying ecosystem engineering in the fossil record, starting with paleocommunity reconstruction from the Cambrian Period. It also highlights the challenges for paleoecologists to continue to refine and build current strategies for identifying examples of ancient ecosystem.
