Abstract

The article examines the work of abstract painter Ad Reinhardt and its relation to conceptual art. It states that Reinhardt's art perspective is cultivated by its connection to history and moral agency. It says that an artist's relation to history is not limited to replication of historical forms. Reinhardt is recognized as the first American to have begun abstract art and an advocate of abstract expressionism. It states that his works are unilateral and depict cultural meaning.
