Abstract

The article reports on the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program discussion in the U.S. Congress. It mentions that STEM received support after the National Academy of Sciences reports the threat of STEM education in U.S. economy. For that reason, Congress passed the America COMPETES Act, an act dedicated to develop federal STEM program, in 2007 and appropriated funds its programs. Unfortunately, the fund was eliminated in the omnibus spending bill of President George Bush.
