Abstract
- The article features Garvin and Effie Porter, gardeners from Pickens County, South Carolina. Their garden provides a bountiful harvest of vegetables and flowers. The devotion of Effie Porter to the flower garden is a characteristic learned from her mother. Once married, they also planted vegetables to make sure they had food to can for the winters. Their paths cross often and they enjoy all aspects of the garden.
