Abstract
- An approach to optimise the aerodynamic shape of a flying wing transport aircraft is presented. It is split into 2D airfoil design and 3D twist and chord length opfimisation. The applied finite volume flow solver is the DLR code FLOWer. The methods are described and results for a flying wing configuration are presented. The paper represents parts of DLR's contribution to the aerodynamics work package of the VELA project, supported by European Commission. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
