Abstract

The aim of this paper is describe how boron was identified as an anticancer agent for prostate cancer and how research using human prostate cells identified a biochemical mechanism that may explain many of the diverse effects reported for the element in plants and animals. At physiological pH, boric acid binds to NAD+, a coenzyme in metabolism and substrate for an enzyme in the NAD+ cADPR system of calcium signaling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
