Abstract

The article presents the author's view concerning the economic and security conditions in Lagos, Nigeria. According to the author, the city is considered as the six largest megacity in the world and it is also portended to rank in third place in 2015. However, despite of its promising development, the city seems to be insufficiently funded and its state budget is not enough to support its 15 million citizens leading to unmanageable booming population, inadequacy in housing and health care, high crime rate, urban violence, and traffic congestion.
