Abstract

The present work presents a new lossless compression method for eletrocardiogram (ECG) signals using a binary version of the prediction by partial matching (PPM) algorithm. Experimental evaluation was made using the bank of ECG records MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database. The proposed method reached a compression ratio average of 2,5:1, with very modest memory requirements.
