Abstract

We have demonstrated that Petrov-Galerkin methods can be extended to solve unsteady equations provided that consistency is preserved. This simple strategy leads to accurate methods. The simulation of the turbulent transonic flow over an ARC airfoil where large amplitude self induced oscillations are present demonstrates the accuracy of the approach. Future work will include the simulation of aeroelastic coupling and Large Eddy Simulation of turbulent flows. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
