Abstract

Web Services are seen as one of the most promising solutions for the integration of autonomous, heterogonous e-business systems. Today's e-commerce systems often involve a combination of multiple Web Services, which are implemented via a mix of technologies such as Business Process Markup Language (BPML), Business Process Execution Language for Web Services (BPEL4WS), and Web Service Choreography Interface (WSCI). Recently, the application of Model Driven Architecture (MDA) to Web Services has received considerable attention. However, most of existing literature deals with the static aspects of Web Service modelling. This paper focuses on the behavioral aspect of the composition of Web Services using a Meta Object Facility (MOF) compliant metamodel for BPEL4WS. The paper presents a transformation of the Unified Modelling Language (UML) Activity diagram to the BPEL4WS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
