Fridge recycling: Can it be done without endangering the environment?

This paper focuses on the critical environmental need to recover climatically hazardous CFCs from end-of-life refrigeration equipment. After introducing the RAL Institute, the RAL GZ-728 quality assurance scheme and the associated quality mark, we discuss the importance of strict environmental monitoring and transparent auditing of fridge recycling plants. The paper also describes European approaches to fridge recycling and discusses how these methods might be transferred to other countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
