Abstract

The article presents an overview of the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health's (NIOSH) Radiation Dose Reconstruction Program. The program was developed after epidemiologic research indicated associations between work-related exposures and illness at the facilities of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The claims management process as well as the dose reconstruction process are discussed. One of the objectives in developing the dose reconstruction program is to ensure that the processing of claims would be effective, efficient and timely.
