Abstract
- The article cites some of the traditional vegetables of Sicily, Italy in the Mediterranean. Described as the largest Italian region, the country's vegetables grow under different environmental, agronomical, and social contexts. Some of the vegetables produced in restricted geographic areas include the wild asparagus of the Liliaceae group, the Ciuretto of the Brassicaceae group, and the snake melon of the cucurbitaceae group. The issue of decreased supply of these vegetables in Sicily is discussed.
