Abstract

This article describes the Bukhansanseong Fortress on Mount Bukhansan in Korea, built in 1711 during the Joseon Dynasty to defend the capital city of Seoul. Its walls cover eight kilometers and have fourteen main gates and nine secret gates. At one time it housed three Korean military camps: the Military Training Command, the Capital Garrison, and the Royal Brigade Command.
