Abstract
- The article offers suggestions to accurately measure actual savings from lighting upgrades. Evaluation requires the creation of baseline data on material, labor and energy costs of existing lighting. This should be done with the use of lighting loggers, occupancy data and burn hours. Measurements should be made before and after the lighting upgrade. To lower risks, it is suggested that bids should include failure rates, replacement costs of lamps and ballasts, and stock of replacement parts. The effect of excessive cycling is discussed.
