Abstract

The article focuses on the effect of the victory in Comoros on both domestic security and peacekeeping missions of the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU). In March 2008, about 68,000 peacekeepers were based in Africa. It is said that the number of peacekeepers required is supposed to rise to more than 95,000, with up to another 20,000 required by 2010. It is added that the UN and the AU do not have the troops available to meet demand.
