Abstract

The article discusses Cindy Sherman, a contemporary artist, best known for dressing up and photographing herself in self portraits and assuming the guise of Marquise de Pompadour. Sherman designs porcelain dinnerware for Artes Magnus America, based in New York City, alongside George Segal and Arman, all of whom were the first of 20 fine artists to do so. The process of transferring an image onto porcelain is very complex, requiring up to 16 photo silk screens resulting in what the author states as a visual commentary.
