Chapter 1: The Sociopolitical Environment.

Chapter 1 of the book "Lion on the Freeway: A Thematic Introduction to Contemporary South African Literature in English" is presented. It presents a brief overview of the social impacts of the political history in South Africa. It also discusses the first settlement of the Dutch in Table Bay as well as the wars between the white settlers and the black Africa people in the country. Moreover, it looks into four racial groups in the country to examine their differences to other races.
