Abstract
- The article focuses on the improvement of oil well and reservoir management with the use of swelling elastomers (SE). The theory behind this is that when contacting formation water, rubber elements will swell to seal off the annulus between the completion and the wellbore. It is noted that segmenting the well into different flow units is key to achieving improved oil recovery through well and reservoir management in a horizontal well.
