Abstract

Sprout, the WYSIWYG tool for creating flash applications and widgets, has raised a $5 million Series B round led by Polaris Venture Partners. The company launched back in January at DEMO, and has since rolled out an SDK to allow developers to build their own components for the Sprout platform. Current components include Twitter, Google Forms, and Seesmic. In the video below, Seesmic CEO Loic Le Meur interviews Sprout CEO Carnet Williams about his company: In addition to Polaris, Global Venture Capital and Mitch Kapor (founder of Lotus) participated in the round. The company previously raised a Series A Round from GVC, and also secured funds when it sold its collection of Facebook apps (Pirates vs Ninjas et al) to Buddy Media back at the peak of the FB application boom.mashable109:http://mashable.com/2008/05/13/sprout-funding/ ---Related Articles at Mashable! - The Social Networking Blog:Sprout: 750 More Invites for Mashable ReadersSprout Launches SDK Enabling Developers to Add Widget ComponentsSprout Launches WYSIWYG Widget Creator; 750 Invites for Mashable ReadersSprout’s WYSIWYG Flash Editor Now Available to EveryoneWidgetbox Gets $8M to Build Up Widget SuiteUndisclosed Buzzd Funding Amount Finally Comes To LightHuffington Post Raises Another $5 Million [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
