Abstract
- The article features Castanea dentata, a narrative range of American chestnut. U.S. chestnut plantation spans from Massachusetts to Indiana. Chestnut was considered the "Eastern Giant" since it historically stood over a hundred feet tall and was as broad as seven feet in diameter. American chestnut makes up 25 percent of lumber sales for the Appalachian region though it never surpassed one percent of the U.S. total hardwood lumber output. Its wood has also been proven for its durability.
