Abstract
- The article presents a study on the influence of genotype and site quality of two commercially significant South African grown Eucalyptus hybrid clones, on the formation of hexeneuronic acid (HexA). The results demonstrate that pulps produced from E. grandis x E. urophylla (GU) clones have significantly higher amounts of HexA compared to pulps produced from E. grandis x E. camaldulensis (GC) clones, which are grown on area of same quality. Higher amounts of HexA were exhibited by both clones on sites of poor quality as compared to the same clones grown in good sites.
