Abstract

Chapter 13 of the book "Sugar and Slavery: An Economic History of the British West Indies" is presented. It discusses the role of the English commission agent as banker of a sugar planter in the British West Indies. One potential source of capital for planters was the London money market in England. The Parliamentary Act of 1732 helped to extend the scope of the commission system.
