Abstract

The article focuses on the use of steel in the design of earthquake-resistant structures discussed by the Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics and the Institution of Structural Engineers at a London, England event in 2008. British Geological Survey (BGS) seismologist Alice Walker cited the possibility for another earthquake after the one that occurred in March. Professor Federico Mazzolani tackled the common structural failures in buildings during seismic events and the effectiveness of using steel eccentric bracing frames (EBF).
