Abstract
- The article investigates the connection between cultural identity and cinematic representation in the Caribbean Area. According to the author, there at least two different ways of looking at cultural identity; one is in terms of shared culture and the other is a concept that recognizes the difference which constitutes what and who people are. The author also discusses how cultural identity ties the modern era with the past and how points of recognition about the concept of cultural identity align with the discourses of the emerging Caribbean cinema.
