Abstract

An almanac entry for significant events that happened around the world in 2007 is presented. The Federal Bureau of Investigation would send agents to Iraq to investigate a September 16 incident in which 17 Iraqis were killed by employees of Blackwater USA. An estimated 884 Iraqi civilians and 78 Iraqi police and soldiers had died in violent incidents in September. Turkish military and political leaders authorized troops to enter Iraq to attack separatist Kurdish forces concentrated in rebel camps near the border.
