Children of a Lesser Kurdistan.

The article focuses on events involving politics and government in Kurdistan. Events involving the placement of Jalal Talabani as President of Iraq is presented. Jim Muir states that Talabani as a pragmatic leader as Saddam Hussein. It is suggested that Saddam Hussein tried to divide the Kurds and solicit the support of Jalal Talbani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) into a ceasefire that lasted over a year because of fear of Iranian-Kurdish alliance, at the height of Iraq-Iran war in 1983. It is inferred that the end of that ceasefire agreement has inspired the union of Kurdish campaign against the Baathist regime.
