Abstract
- On completion of the sanctuary of the Cathedral of Seville there was a plan to construct a large connected tabernacle, for which various projects and materials were considered. In 1662, the design selected by architect Sebastían de Ruesta was only partially initiated in conjunction with the magnificent celebrations organized for the inauguration of the temple. The unsatisfactory outcome of this ephemeral construction resulted in the decision not to complete the tabernacle, which would have been the first in Andalusian Baroque style. Although the designs for the project have not survived, it is nevertheless possible to hypothetically reconstruct them based on descriptions of the work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
