Abstract

The article presents an encyclopedia entry for Con Colleano, a circus entertainer who was born Cornelius Sullivan at Lismore, New South Wales (NSW). Colleano was born to a family of circus entertainers who belong to the Collino Bros Circus, that toured NSW in 1910 and Queensland in 1918. As a young performer, Colleano perfected the feet-to-feet forward somersault and debuted it in Sydney in 1919. A debut in New York was made in 1924, and he was soon hired by Barnum & Bailey's Circus, remaining as its principal performer through the 1930s.
