Abstract

The article reports on the increased cases of organized dog fighting in Louisiana. Many dogs have been brought in the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals with fighting scars. It is considered that the environment after the Hurricane Katrina offers empty shotgun homes and warehouses that provide cover for fights. The surge of the inner-city dog fighting has begun when drug dealers sought dog fighters and paid them to teach how to condition the animals.
